Update and a survey of sorts, I guess.

Hey all.

School is nearing its end this semester. Another two weeks and then I'll be free for the summer...! For those still in school like me, I hope all your finals and studying and cramming goes well!

When summer vacation finally does roll around, what sort of visual novels would you like to see? More of The Somewhere Series? Dating sims? Something new? More romance/comedy, less romance/comedy?

If there's anything in particular you're really wanting to see, please let me know. <:

See you all later~

Have you thought about a puzzle game? Something perhaps to stretch your creative juices in a new direction?

It depends on your definition of puzzle games, haha.

I have an idea for one of those escape-the-room type things, but the story for that still needs some proper development, oops.

Or were you thinking of some other type of game...?

I'd like more comedy, you seem to have a knack for it. Maybe fictional creatures that fit whatever world you're creating, you've done mostly young human white people till now. And I also agree with someaveragechap, what else can you do with your knowledge of the programming language thus far?

I do gear towards comedy, haha. It makes me laugh to write funny things, and then happy when others like it, too.

Mm, yes. I think a lot of my characters are actually more white-passing than white, but since I didn't go into more detail for some of their backgrounds, this is kind of a null point, oops. Lady of the Castle was supposed to delve into more of the history of Deiceno and different cultures (and potentially magic related stuff) that I'm trying to develop in my world-building, but... I lost steam for that game, oops.

And then The Somewhere Series only has three (fairly-light skinned) characters, oops. But it makes up most of the games I have on here. (Isn't it funny how I started that series as practice?)

I do have another longer vn in the works that deals with more fantasy and not-actually-human creatures - I should post the two character designs for that, haha.

Yes, once school is out, I'd like to explore more what I'd be able to do. The stuff I've been learning in school isn't always exactly applicable to game-making, and I've been sort of... refining the method of how I make my current things, but it's still been pretty narrow in terms of what it does.

But yes, I think it'd be fun to try out different things this summer, though I still really love and will continue making visual novels, haha. <:

I do adore the Somewhere and dating sims/visual novels are just fun and superb. Yeah... I think I've played all your games (woo!)

Personally, I would like to see more dating sims and the visual novels, but it would also be neat if you decided to go with something new altogether. But food must be included. As I'm sure you've realized or known for quite some time that you usually include food somewhere in your games, most of the time. And just like you, I love food. I'm a fatty lunch-stealer.

I also think it would be cool if you decided to do dating sim, you could maybe consider making it with morbid flair to it. That is, something darker.

Of course not Amiralo style, if you're familiar with Saccharine or Reverie, who has a tendency for tragedies, but I'm thinking more like Bomee and the Jenna Moonlight series. It could still be romance and comedy, but it could be a twisted romance and black comedy.

Just suggestions, but whatever you go with, I know it's gonna be really fun!

Hehe, yay! Thanks for enjoying my games so much! <:

Yes, I love food, too. The Grocery Store's conception was basically just me going: "You know what. I really wanna draw different dishes. Let's make a game out of this." Food is awesome! Whether I realize or not, it'll probably always be featured in my games, haha.

Ahhhh, I love Amiralo's dark storylines. Every time I play her games, I'm all: "Where is the dark and gut-wrenching twist. It's coming, it's always going somewhere-THERE IT IS."

I think it would be interesting to do something with darker undertones in my stories, but comedy is definitely a strong-suit so I rely on that a lot. If I make something sad, I want to make sure its execution is done well enough to convey what I want it, too.

I get somewhat apprehensive that my stuff will be narm-y because of my comedy tendencies, oops. So I tend to tread more.... slowly with darker topics. For example, a part of Charms of Lavender Blue got kind of glossed over due to time constraints, but if I revisit that series again, I'll definitely deal more with the darker implications of Nabi's curse and whatnot.

But here's to hoping that summer will bring on a lot of new milestones to cross (ex: at least another dating sim on par with Colors of a Feather). :D

I'd like to see another longish/semi-long game like you had with "Colors of a Feather", i really liked that game and it was one of the main reasons why i became a fan of yours. Don't get me wrong, i really enjoyed "The Somewhere Series" you made and the other two one-off games ("Lady of the Castle" and "Charms of Lavender Blue" especially felt like you going back to your roots) but your first game still strikes me as your best one so far, the more i replay it the more i seem to enjoy it.

If you don't think you can manage to create another game like that then you could give a shot at making a new series, maybe a more darker series like crime/romance?

Whatever you do i'm sure it will come out pretty entertaining.

Me, too. Just haven't had the time/motivation for that during school, haha. Lady of the Castle was supposed to have been like CoaF, but as I mentioned earlier, I just kinda lost interest. Too much time passed in between working on it, oops.

Perhaps! I do like the look of film noir, haha.

Thanks! <:

Here in Argentina, school ends in December :'(

My condolences. :'(

I have every confidence in your abilities except... remember to go outside, meet friends and please have fun too ;)

Thanks! And will do, haha.

I've been watching your content from a distance and I do enjoy it. You have a knack for writing, which is a solid basis for all of your work.

Was wondering though: ever thought of collaborating with other Newgrounders for a longer visual novel? Experiment with different visual styles, and possibly work with another artist to see what your resulting story slides look like. Have a musician or two on board, and some voices maybe?

Of course, these things can't be done immediately -- take the time you need. Only do so if and when you're ready. ^_^

Aw, thank you! <:

Right now, I feel more comfortable doing things by myself because I still feel like I need way more experience and to learn a lot more before incorporating more new features into my games, let alone more people.

Though it may not seem like it, I actually learned a lot from doing The Somewhere Series, because in each game I was tinkering with the coding and figuring out what worked, didn't work, or worked better, and so on. I'll probably continue that series solely on the basis that I'll be trying/testing out new things, haha.

But, one day! Hopefully!
